Am I the right candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

If you've ever talked to someone who's tried laser hair removal, you've probably heard them rave about it as a fantastic investment they'd gladly make again. Many start with a small area and end up scheduling full-body treatments before they know it.

For those new to laser hair reduction, the process can seem a little daunting. It’s normal to wonder if you’re a suitable candidate or what to expect. Here’s what you need to know.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

We use the Candela Gentle Max Pro, this device uses light energy to penetrates the hair follicle, destroying it at its root while preserving the surrounding skin.

What is the treatment like?

Laser energy is delivered through a small hand-piece operated by your therapist. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat. The heat is then absorbed by the cells being targeted, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. Your skin may be pink immediately following the procedure; typically, this lasts from a few minutes to several hours after the procedure.

Am I the Right Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal works best on darker hair because the laser targets pigment in the follicle. If your hair is blonde, red, grey, or white, the results may be less effective since there’s little to no pigment for the laser to absorb. However, advancements in laser technology mean we can treat a wide range of skin tones safely and effectively.

You're a great candidate for laser hair removal if:

✔ You have dark hair and fair to medium skin (ideal combination for best results).

✔ You have darker skin—we can adjust settings to safely and effectively treat deeper skin tones.

✔ You’re tired of waxing, shaving, or plucking and want a long-term solution.

✔ You're committed to a treatment plan—multiple sessions are needed for the best outcome.

You might not be suitable if:

✖ You have very light, red, or grey hair (as laser targets pigment).

✖ You’re pregnant or breastfeeding—hormonal changes can affect results.

✖ You have a history of keloid scarring or certain skin conditions—consultation is recommended.

At DRML Skin Clinic, we offer laser hair removal for both men and women, providing fast and effective results with minimal discomfort. Popular treatment areas include the chest, back, shoulders, arms, stomach, and legs, as well as more precise areas like the beard line, neck, and underarms. How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Laser hair removal is only effective on hair follicles in their active growth stage, so multiple sessions are needed for the best results. Most clients see optimal results with 6 to 10 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Our advanced technology often means fewer sessions compared to other clinics.
